In the mid-1970s a cannon-boring bar was discovered at Stream Furnace Mill, which had been a gun foundry in the 17th century. It was conserved by members of the Wealden Iron Research Group and is now on display at Anne of Cleves House, Lewes, East Sussex. A report on this boring bar can be found in: D. S. Butler and C. F. Tebbutt, ‘A Wealden Cannon-Boring Bar’, Post-Medieval Archaeology, 9 (1975), 38-41.
